A. For the purpose of sentencing, the following classes of public offenses and penalties authorized for each class are established:

1. Class A, the sentence for which shall be a definite term of confinement in jail which shall be fixed by the court and shall not exceed one year (365 days), or a fine not to exceed Two Thousand, Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00), or both;

2. Class B, the sentence for which shall be a definite term of confinement in jail which shall be fixed by the court and shall not exceed One Hundred Eighty (180) days, or a fine not to exceed One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00), or both;

3. Class C, the sentence for which shall be a definite term of confinement in jail which shall be fixed by the court and shall not exceed thirty (30) days, or a fine not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or both.

4. Unclassified Public Offenses, which shall include all offenses declared to be public offenses without specification as to class, the sentence for which shall be in accordance with the sentence specified in the ordinance section that defines the public offense; if no penalty is provided in such section, the sentence shall be a definite term of confinement in jail which shall not exceed One Hundred Eighty (180) days, or a fine not to exceed Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00), or both.
