(A) The City will keep a separate account of each deposit received, and will pay interest according to the rate and conditions specified in K.S.A. 12-822 and all amendments thereto.

(B) Investments of security deposits shall be made in accordance with K.S.A. 12-1675, and amendments thereto.

(C) Service deposits are nontransferable from one (1) customer to another customer; however, upon termination of the customer’s service at the service address, the City may transfer the deposit to the customer’s new active account.

(D) Upon termination of service and an active customer account, the City will refund the deposit to the customer less any unpaid utility bills due the City.

(E) Any deposit may be refunded to a customer when, in the opinion of the Governing Body, the deposit is unnecessary to secure payment of the utility bill. (Ord. 21-44 § 7, 2021; Ord. 87-30 § 29, 1987; Ord. 86-15 § 2, 1986.)
